Picnic Canopy English Magazine Reviews Car Covers The following article was published in a United Kingdom car enthusiast magazine called Practical Classics. The magazine decided to secretly purchase every car cover available in the United Kingdom, thoroughly test each, and report their findings in their December 2003 issue. For this article, Practical Classics developed a rigorous 20 Point Testing System, where 20 out of 20 is considered a perfect score. The winning “Best Buy” cover scored 18 out of 20. The magazine tested ALL of the fabrics equally for: Water Resistance, Breathability, Durability, UV Protection, Fabric Wear, How the Cover Attaches and Stays on the Vehicle, and “Value to Price” considerations were also noted. Uniquely British, the “retail price” of each cover is listed in “English Pounds” in each of the fabrics section header. Results Favors Coverite Coverite manufactures “private label fabrics” for several of the UK companies, including two companies reviewed here – Classic Additions and Hamilton. Coverite’s private label fabrics tested in this article were: Softbond, Xtrabond, and Prestige fabrics. “Best Budget Buy!” — We are very pleased to announce that Coverite’s Softbond was test rated at 15/20 and was voted the category’s “Best Budget Buy” car cover fabric in the United Kingdom! See the thumbnail review at the bottom of the article’s first page. Coverite’s Softbond fabric was also compared by the magazine to the more expensive fabric named NOAH by Covercraft. Both fabrics scored a respectable 15/20, but the magazine prefers Softbond over competition because of our “fabric’s breathability is the best in the group.” Not to mention that Softbond also won out over NOAH by being less than half of the retail price! Coverite’s Xtrabond fabric was also reviewed scoring a rating of an impressive 16/20 and earning very high praise for a non-breathable waterproof fabric. Plus our top-end four layer fabric Prestige scored a very favorable score of 14/20. All of our fabrics scored “High Marks” in the test, and the results placed ALL of Coverite’s fabrics at the top of the scale! In comparison, the magazine scored the top-end NOAH fabric with a 15/20, but noted that its retail is twice that of Softbond. Competition’s Weathershield fabric only scored an 11/20, with a retail that was at 3 times the price.
